Wicked Sing-Along

The audience for this show will be seated

Grab your broomsticks and warm up those vocal cords!

Wicked is flying into Grimsby for a magical sing-along screening…and you’re invited to belt out every iconic lyric—from “Popular” to “Defying Gravity” with your fellow Oz-obsessed fans.

Whether you’re Team Glinda or Team Elphaba, expect big laughs, big feels and even bigger high notes in this spellbinding celebration of friendship, destiny, and finding your voice. Costumes encouraged, harmonies optional!

And that’s not all. Stay on after the film for a magical Wicked-inspired craft session! With colouring, make-and-do activities, and plenty of sparkle, it’s the perfect way to finish your afternoon of fun.

Wicked is a spellbinding reimagining of the Land of Oz, telling the untold story of the witches long before Dorothy dropped in. Based on the acclaimed Broadway musical and the novel by Gregory Maguire, the film follows the unlikely friendship between two young women at Shiz University: Elphaba, a misunderstood girl born with emerald-green skin, and Glinda, a popular and ambitious blonde with a flair for sparkle.

As they navigate rivalries, magical studies, and political unrest in Oz, their bond is tested by love, ideology, and the corrupt forces behind the Wizard’s power. Elphaba begins to question everything she’s been taught, ultimately embracing her identity and defying expectations as the so-called Wicked Witch of the West.

With stunning visuals, soaring musical numbers—including fan favourites like “Defying Gravity” and “Popular”—and themes of acceptance, power, and resistance, Wicked invites audiences to see the story of Oz through a new and thought-provoking lens.

This is the film version of Wicked shown on our big screen with the words to all songs and singing encouraged!

Advance Tickets are now on sale, priced at £5 + fees. This movie is rated PG and families are welcome (U18s to be accompanied by a responsible adult).

Picnic in the Park

Comments Off on Picnic in the Park

Part of The Culture House’s long running summer programme, Picnic in the Park takes place on Sunday afternoons in August, within the beautiful surroundings of People’s Park – a Victorian park in central Grimsby.

This free programme brings the under-used bandstand to life with national, regional and local live music, inviting residents and visitors to come along, relax, bring a picnic and enjoy. The programme celebrates local talent, hosting young musicians including youth bands and choirs and enables residents to experience new and familiar sounds across world music, jazz, classical, indie and more.

Alongside this, there’ll be:

  • Free creative activities for children
  • Plus fantastic activities as part of the brand new Own Your Heritage Programme with Unseen Arts and birdhouse.
  • Children, young people and their families can find out more about the history of People’s Park while taking part in aerial circus activities and sketching.

There’s also a chance for young people to gain a ‘Discover Arts Award’ on the day (can be finished at home) by taking part in activities and interviewing the artists there, all with the help of their families.

With much more to be announced, we’re excited to welcome you!

Thanks to our sponsors, AP Robinson, Orsted, Harrison Ices, Ramsdens International. A big thanks to Scops Trust for supporting this and next year’s local and regional music programme. We aim to support local talent while also bringing you something new!
